- Review
- Gower was a friend and contemporary of Chaucer, one who could write good poetry and who deserved the label "moral"; he was "ponderously learned"; the reference to Chaucer in Gower's MO possibly dates "Troilus and Criseyde" as written before 1377; CA is an example of a loose collection of the short tales which were popular in the Middle Ages.
