Review
Byrd explains the proverb in CA 3.585: "But Oule on Stock [perch or branch] and Stock on Oule." Similar language from "The Owl and the Nightingale" shows that the proverb means that the owl defiles her nest and is then defiled as she sits on the nest. [CvD]
