- Review
- Shows that Gower's inclusion of sorcery and witchcraft as aspects of gluttony in Book 6 of the Confessio Amantis is far from anomalous or mistaken, as it is often considered; rather, Gower was working within a tradition traceable to the gospels and throughout the penitential works derived from the Somme le Roi in which gluttony and witchcraft were linked as "sins of the mouth."
