- Oliveira provides a semantic analysis of the verb "muse" in Gower's "Confessio Amantis" and the various ways in which it has been translated in the Iberian versions of the poem. A comparative examination of the source text with the rendering of this term in diverse contexts shows how the translators were capable of understanding and conveying all the nuances of the original, despite the fact that the word was of recent coinage in its usage as a verb in the Middle English lexicon.
